Symptoms are non-specific but may include high fever, rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, nausea, or vomiting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Treating the overgrowth of <em>Candida albicans often involves antifungal medications, along with lifestyle and dietary changes<\/em>, such as reducing sugar and alcohol intake, which can promote fungal growth.<\/p>\n<h2>When and why is this test performed?<\/h2>\n<p>Testing for Candida albicans is typically done when symptoms indicate a possible candidiasis infection. Additionally, <em>the test may be conducted after antibacterial therapy with corticosteroids<\/em> or to assess the effectiveness of antifungal treatment (antimycotic therapy).<\/p>\n<h2>Potential interferences<\/h2>\n<p>The use of antibacterial agents, contamination of the sample, or the presence of heparin in the sample can lead to false-negative results.<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation for the test<\/h2>\n<p>Preparing for the Candida albicans test involves several important steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The sample should be collected on an empty stomach or at least two hours after eating or drinking to ensure the accuracy of the test results.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid rinsing or using any medications before the sample is taken.<\/li>\n<li>If possible, testing should be done before starting any antiviral therapy.<\/li>\n<li>It is recommended to avoid using topical medications 24 hours prior to sample collection.<\/li>\n<li>The sample should be taken before performing any hygiene procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These steps help ensure the most accurate test results.
