The PINP analysis is an important test that can be conducted at the well-known private laboratory in Belgrade, IntroLab, for assessing bone metabolism. PINP stands for “procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide” and is a marker of type I collagen synthesis.

Type I collagen is the main structural protein in bones, skin, tendons, and other connective tissues. The PINP analysis is used to measure the concentration of type I procollagen N-terminal propeptide in the blood, which provides information on the synthesis of type I collagen.

Why is the PINP analysis important?

This test is of great importance in diagnosing and monitoring various bone conditions, including osteoporosis, osteomalacia, bone fibrosis, and in assessing the effectiveness of therapy for these conditions. Therefore, it is considered one of the blood tests for osteoporosis.

What does the sampling look like?

Blood is drawn for analysis by taking a sample from a vein. The procedure is quick and painless, and our laboratory uses state-of-the-art equipment and skilled staff to provide accurate results for blood analyses like this.
