Preparation: To prepare for the OGTT with 100g of glucose, you need to be fasting (no food or drink except water) for at least 8-10 hours before the test. Four days before performing the glucose tolerance test, the patient should (in consultation with their chosen doctor) stop taking medications that affect glucose metabolism, such as corticosteroids or diuretics. Also, intense physical activity should be avoided 24 hours before testing. It is important to adhere to your usual diet and avoid diets. The test is not performed if you have an acute infection or trauma, nor 3 days before and 3 days after the menstrual cycle. Smoking, food, and drinks are prohibited during the test. During the test, patients must be at rest.
