In the IntroLab laboratory in Belgrade, we offer the HPV QUANT – 15 analysis, a sophisticated method that allows for the detection and quantification of 15 different types of HPV.

What is HPV QUANT – 15?

HPV QUANT – 15 is a modern analytical procedure that utilizes quantitative PCR technology to identify and quantify 15 different types of Human Papillomavirus accurately. This analysis is crucial for a precise understanding of HPV infection and enables physicians to formulate an effective treatment plan.

When is the HPV QUANT – 15 analysis performed?

The analysis is recommended for individuals showing symptoms of HPV infection, such as genital warts, or for those identified as high-risk by their healthcare provider. Regular HPV testing is also advised as part of preventive measures, especially for women over the age of 30.

What is Human Papillomavirus (HPV)?

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of over 200 viruses that cause skin and mucous membranes infections. Certain types of HPV can cause changes such as warts and condylomas. In contrast, others, particularly high-risk types, can lead to precancerous lesions and cancer, especially cervical cancer, as well as other types of genital cancer and oropharyngeal cancer. Most HPV infections are asymptomatic and spontaneously eliminated from the body, but in some cases, the virus can remain latent and cause complications years later.

How is HPV transmitted?

HPV is transmitted through direct skin or mucous membrane contact, most commonly through sexual contact with an infected person. To a lesser extent, it can also be transmitted through contact with contaminated objects or from mother to child during childbirth.

How is it treated?

Treatment for HPV depends on the type of virus and the severity of symptoms. Therapies may include topical treatments, surgical procedures, or monitoring by a physician without active treatment in some cases.
