The ionized calcium analysis is a laboratory test that measures the level of ionized calcium in the blood. Ionized calcium is the active form of calcium in the body and plays a vital role in many metabolic processes.
Our biochemical laboratory in Belgrade, IntroLab, is available for all laboratory analyses, including this one.
Why is the ionized calcium analysis important for your health?
The level of ionized calcium can provide important information about your health status. This test is often used to assess the function of the parathyroid glands, monitor kidney diseases, osteoporosis, and other metabolic disorders.
What are the indications for the analysis?
Calcium is used to diagnose and monitor various diseases, including issues with bones, kidneys, thyroid and parathyroid glands, and the gastrointestinal tract. These diseases can lead to abnormally high or low calcium levels in the body.
Calcium analysis is usually conducted during regular medical check-ups for individuals with a confirmed disease or those suspected of having a specific condition, such as bone diseases (including osteoporosis and osteomalacia), kidney diseases, thyroid and parathyroid diseases, and malignant diseases. Additionally, periodic blood calcium analysis is recommended for individuals who already have low or high levels to assess the effectiveness of therapy. It is often measured in combination with vitamin D, PTH, and inorganic phosphate.
The level of ionized calcium is also determined in cases where calcium levels are extremely low or high, as well as in critically ill patients.
Blood calcium analysis cost
All biochemical analyses in our laboratory are characterized by affordability. For a price of 380.00 RSD, you can determine your blood calcium level in a reliable and quick manner.
