The IntroLab team understands that medical procedures may cause discomfort. For this reason, we take the time to clearly explain our blood collection service and what patients can expect during their visit.
Blood Collection Process
This routine yet essential service begins upon arrival at the laboratory. Trained medical personnel provide all necessary information related to the procedure before specimen collection. Blood collection is a brief and standardized process that typically takes only a few minutes.
The puncture site is carefully disinfected before a sterile needle is used to collect a blood specimen from a vein or capillary, depending on the test requirements. Patients may experience brief pressure or mild discomfort during collection.
Once the specimen is collected, the needle is removed, and a small adhesive bandage is applied to the puncture site. Patients are advised to remain in the laboratory for a short period after blood collection to ensure they are feeling well.
Service Scope
The blood collection service includes specimen collection, use of all required sterile materials (needles, cotton, and bandages), professional patient care throughout the procedure, and proper preparation of the specimen for laboratory analysis. Specific laboratory tests are not included in this service and are billed separately according to the laboratory price list.

Preparation: For most laboratory tests, blood collection is best performed in the morning between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m., after at least 12 hours of fasting. For certain tests whose levels vary throughout the day or month, this guideline does not apply, and blood collection must be performed at a specific time.
