At IntroLab in Belgrade, we offer biochemical urine analyses, including drug testing. One of our key services is the methamphetamine urine test.

What is Methamphetamine?

Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that impacts the central nervous system. It can be detected through various tests, such as urine, blood, hair, and saliva tests.

Side Effects of Using This Drug

Using methamphetamine can lead to a range of short-term and long-term side effects. Short-term side effects include:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Increased heart rate
  • Elevated body temperature
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Hyperthermia
  • Increased activity
  • Excitement
  • Nausea
  • Unpredictable behavior
  • Panic
  • Psychotic episodes
  • Irritability
  • Dry mouth
  • Sleep problems
  • Increased libido
  • Feeling of itching or muscle cramps

On the other hand, long-term side effects may include:

  • Organ damage, especially to the liver, kidneys, and lungs
  • Tooth decay
  • Malnutrition or severe weight loss
  • Depression
  • Brain damage resulting in short-term memory problems
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Sores or abscesses on the skin
  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy
  • Psychotic episodes and addiction

When is Methamphetamine First Detected in the Body?

Methamphetamine can be detected in urine within two to five hours after use. A blood test can detect it as soon as two hours after initial use. Additionally, a saliva test can show a positive result within 10 minutes of use.

How Long is Methamphetamine Present in Urine?

Methamphetamine can be detected in urine for up to a week after the last dose in heavy users. For typical users, it can be detected for 3 to 5 days after the last use. Since methamphetamine metabolizes into amphetamine, tests usually show positive results for both substances.

How is the Test Conducted?

Testing is typically performed by collecting a urine sample. The liver breaks down the drug, and the kidneys excrete it through urine. The detection time in urine depends on factors such as frequency of use, dose size, metabolic rate, age, overall health, body mass, physical activity level, drug tolerance, and urine pH level.

Why is Methamphetamine Urine Testing Important?

This test is crucial because methamphetamine can have severe physical and mental health effects. Additionally, methamphetamine use is illegal and can result in legal consequences.
